What happens if I overdose?

An overdose of tolnaftate topical is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.

What should I avoid while using Tinaderm (tolnaftate topical)?

Rinse with water if this medicine gets in your eyes.

Avoid tight-fitting synthetic clothing that does not allow air circulation. Wear loose-fitting clothing made of cotton and other natural fibers until your infection is healed.

Tinaderm (tolnaftate topical) side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using tolnaftate topical and call your doctor at once if you have skin irritation after applying this medicine.

Common side effects may include mild itching, dryness, or peeling of treated skin.

Along with its needed effects, tolnaftate topical (the active ingredient contained in Tinaderm) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur while taking tolnaftate topical:

  • Skin irritation not present before use of this medicine

When you apply the aerosol solution form of this medicine, a mild temporary stinging may be expected.

Dermatologic

A case of sensitization to butylated hydroxytoluene which is found in some of the tolnaftate topical (the active ingredient contained in Tinaderm) preparations has been reported.[Ref]

Dermatologic side effects have included a mild skin irritation.[Ref]
