Refresh PM Overview

Refresh PM is an over-the-counter medication product used to provide relief from eye burning, irritation, and/or dryness. It is a single product containing 2 active ingredients: white petrolatum and mineral oil.

Both active ingredients belong to a class of medications called ocular (eye) lubricants. These work to relieve eye irritation and dryness by lubricating the moving parts of the eye, eyelid, and surrounding structures.

This medication comes in ointment form and is typically administered on an as needed basis.

Common side effects of Refresh PM include temporary eye burning and/or stinging upon application and eye redness.

Refresh PM can also cause blurred vision. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how Refresh PM affects you.

Side Effects of Refresh PM

Serious side effects have been reported with Refresh PM. See the “Refresh PM Precautions” section.

Common side effects of Refresh PM include the following:

  • blurred vision
  • temporary eye stinging and/or burning upon application
  • eye discomfort
  • eye redness
  • vision changes

Refresh PM Dosage

Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor or as directed on the label. 

The dose your doctor recommends may be based on the following:

  • the condition being treated
  • other medical conditions you have
  • other medications you are taking
  • how you respond to this medication
  • your weight
  • your age

The recommended amount of Refresh PM to apply for relief of eye burning, irritation, and/or dryness caused by wind, sun, heating, and/or certain medications is 1/4th inch of ointment to the inside of the eyelid.

Refresh PM Overdose

If you take too much Refresh PM, call your healthcare provider or local Poison Control Center, or seek emergency medical attention right away.

Other Requirements

  • For external use only
  • Store at 59°-86°F (15°-30°C)
  • Replace cap after using
  • Use only if imprinted tape seals on top and bottom flaps are intact and clearly legible
  • Use before expiration date marked on container
  • Keep this and all medicines out of the reach of children
