Refresh Redness Relief Precautions

Serious side effects have been reported with Refresh Redness Relief including the following:

  • Eye infections. To prevent contamination and potential infection, care should be taken to avoid touching the bottle tip to eyelids or to any other surface. The use of this bottle by more than one person may spread infection. Keep bottle tightly closed when not in use.
  • Acute hypersensitivity reactions. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, and/or trouble breathing.
  • Quickened and/or irregular heartbeat. Discontinue use and consult with your physician if you notice a quickened and/or irregular heartbeat while taking Refresh Redness Relief.
  • Increased blood pressure. Consult with your physician if you have high blood pressure or a family history of high blood pressure before using Refresh Redness Relief.
  • Increased eye redness. If you overuse Refresh Redness Relief, you may experience increased eye redness. Consult with your physician if you find you need to use Refresh Redness Relief for more than 3 consecutive days.

Do not use Refresh Redness Relief if you are allergic to Refresh Redness Relief or to any of its ingredients.

Refresh Redness Relief can also cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how Refresh Redness Relief affects you. 

Refresh Redness Relief and Pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

The FDA categorizes medications based on safety for use during pregnancy. Five categories - A, B, C, D, and X, are used to classify the possible risks to an unborn baby when a medication is taken during pregnancy. Refresh Redness Relief has not yet been evaluated on safety for use during pregnancy.

Refresh Redness Relief Usage

Take Refresh Redness Relief exactly as prescribed or directed on the label.

Refresh Redness Relief comes in eyedrop form and is typically administered on an as needed basis up to four times daily.

Do not touch the tip of the Refresh Redness Relief container to any surface and always replace the cap after using.

To apply Refresh Redness Relief, pull down the lower lid of the affected eye(s) and instill Refresh Redness Relief eyedrops into the space between the inside of the lower eyelid and eyeball. 

 

How is this medicine (Refresh Redness Relief) best taken?

Use Refresh Redness Relief as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.

  • For the eye only.
  • Do not use if the solution is cloudy, leaking, or has particles.
  • Do not use if solution changes color.
  • Wash hands before and after use.
  • Take out contact lenses before using this medicine. Lenses may be put back in 15 minutes after Refresh Redness Relief is given. Do not put contacts back in if your eyes are irritated or infected.
  • Do not touch the container tip to the eye, lid, or other skin.
  • Tilt your head back and drop drug into the eye.
  • After use, keep your eyes closed. Put pressure on the inside corner of the eye. Do this for 1 to 2 minutes. This keeps the drug in your eye.

What do I do if I miss a dose?

  • Many times this medicine is used on an as needed basis. Do not use more often than told by the doctor.

How do I store and/or throw out Refresh Redness Relief?

  • Store at room temperature. Do not freeze.
  • Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Check with your pharmacist about how to throw out unused drugs.
