Uses For Emverm
Mebendazole is used to treat:
- Common roundworms (ascariasis).
- Hookworms (ancylostomiasis, necatoriasis, uncinariasis).
- Pinworms (enterobiasis, oxyuriasis).
- Whipworms (trichuriasis).
Mebendazole is used to treat infections caused by worms. It works by keeping the worm from absorbing sugar (glucose), so that the worm loses energy and dies.
This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription.

What are some other side effects of Emverm?
All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:
- Belly pain.
- Loose stools (diarrhea).
- Not hungry.
- Gas.
- Upset stomach or throwing up.

Contraindications
Mebendazole is contraindicated in persons who have shown hypersensitivity to the drug.
Warnings
There is no evidence that mebendazole, even at high doses, is effective for hydatid disease. There have been rare reports of neutropenia and agranulocytosis when mebendazole was taken for prolonged periods and at dosages substantially above those recommended.
How is Emverm Supplied
Emverm™ (mebendazole) chewable tablet USP, 100 mg is round, light peach-colored, unscored, debossed “ap” above “107” on one side and plain on the other side, supplied in cartons of one tablet, blister packaged (NDC 52054-107-01).
Store at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F) [See USP Controlled Room Temperature].

Mebendazole Pregnancy Warnings
Mebendazole has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have revealed evidence of fetotoxicity and teratogenicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. However, mebendazole has been used during pregnancy without evidence of fetal harm. Mebendazole is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
