Avoid getting this medication in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If this does happen, rinse with water. Do not use on sunburned, windburned, dry, chapped, irritated, or broken skin.

Avoid using other medications on the areas you treat with sulfacetamide sodium and sulfur topical unless your doctor tells you to.

What other drugs will affect sulfacetamide sodium and sulfur topical?

It is not likely that other drugs you take orally or inject will have an effect on topically applied sulfacetamide sodium and sulfur. But many drugs can interact with each other. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

What are some other side effects of this drug?

Usual Adult Dose for Acne Rosacea

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 8%-4% suspension:
1 to 2 times daily, wet skin and work into a full lather. Cleanse face for 10 to 20 seconds. Rinse and pat dry.

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 9%-4% topical liquid:
1 to 2 times daily, wet skin and work into a full lather. Cleanse face for 10 to 20 seconds. Rinse and pat dry.

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 9%-4.5% topical liquid:
1 to 2 times daily, wet skin and work into a full lather. Cleanse face for 10 to 20 seconds. Rinse and pat dry.

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 10%-1% topical liquid:
1 to 2 times daily, wet skin and work into a full lather. Cleanse face for 10 to 20 seconds. Rinse and pat dry.

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 10%-4% topical foam:
Wash affected area. Massage foam into affected area 1 to 2 times daily. If removing, rinse off after 1 to 2 minutes.

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 10%-4% topical pad:
1 to 2 times daily, wet skin and work into a full lather. Cleanse face for 10 to 20 seconds. Rinse and pat dry.

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 10%-5% topical foam:
Cleanse thoroughly and pat dry. Massage foam into affected area 1 to 3 times daily.

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 10%-5% topical pad:
1 to 2 times daily, wet cloth and work into a full lather. Cleanse face for 10 to 20 seconds. Rinse and pat dry. Throw cloth away.

Renal Dose Adjustments

Sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 8%-4% suspension, sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 10%-4% topical liquid and sulfacetamide sodium-sulfur topical 10%-5% foam are not to be used by those with kidney disease.
