Side Effects of Zyrtec Itchy Eye
Ketotifen eyedrop solution is generally well tolerated and side effects are usually mild. However, you should stop using it and ask a doctor if you experience any of the following:
- eye pain
- changes in vision
- redness of the eye
- itching worsens or lasts more than 72 hours

- if solution changes color or becomes cloudy
- if you are sensitive to any ingredient in this product
- to treat contact lens related irritation
Uses For Zyrtec Itchy Eye
Ketotifen ophthalmic (eye) solution is used to temporarily prevent itching of the eye caused by a condition known as allergic conjunctivitis. It works by acting on certain cells, called mast cells, to prevent them from releasing substances that cause the allergic reaction.
This medicine is available both over-the-counter (OTC) and with your doctor's prescription.
Zyrtec Itchy Eye Side Effects
Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:
More common- Eye redness and swelling
- Eye discharge
- eye discomfort
- eye pain
- hives
- increased itching of eyes
- rash.
Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

- stuffy or runny nose
- Burning or stinging of eyes
- dry eyes
- eyelid disorder
- eye sensitivity to light
- fever, tiredness, achiness, and sore throat
- increase in size of pupils
- sore throat
- tearing.

What are some things I need to know or do while I take ZyrTEC Itchy Eye?
- Tell all of your health care providers that you take ZyrTEC Itchy Eye. This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists.
- Do not use this medicine to treat contact lens irritation.
- This medicine may cause harm if swallowed. If ZyrTEC Itchy Eye is swallowed, call a doctor or poison control center right away.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using this medicine while you are pregnant.
- Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. You will need to talk about any risks to your baby.
