Precautions While Using mannitol
Your doctor will check you closely while doing the bronchial challenge test. This will allow your doctor to see if the medicine is working properly and to check for any unwanted effects.
mannitol may cause severe bronchospasm. Tell your doctor right away if you are having a cough, difficulty with breathing, shortness of breath, or wheezing after receiving mannitol. Your doctor will give you a short-acting inhaler right away to treat your symptoms.

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:
Less common- Chest discomfort
- cough
- difficult or labored breathing
- dry heaves
- runny nose
- shortness of breath
- sore throat
- tightness in the chest
- troubled breathing
- vomiting
- wheezing
- Gagging

Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
