Maalox Max

Name: Maalox Max

Maalox Max Overview

Maalox Max is an over the counter medication used to relieve symptoms of acid reflux, indigestion, heartburn, gas, and a sour stomach.

It is a single product containing 3 ingredients: aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone. Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide belong to a group of drugs called antacids. Antacids work by neutralizing the acid in the stomach and help reduce symptoms of heartburn. Simethicone belongs to a group of drugs called antiflatulents. Antiflatulents work by breaking up gas bubbles in the stomach and making them easier to be burped before entering the intestines.

This medication comes in a oral (by mouth) liquid, and is usually taken twice a day as needed, with or without food.

Common side effects of Maalox Max include constipation and abdominal cramps.
