Uses of Iopidine

Apraclonidine is a prescription medication used to treat glaucoma in people who are already taking other medications for it and still have pressure in the eye that is too high.

Apraclonidine is also used to prevent or reduce increased pressure in the eye during and after certain types of laser eye surgery.

This medication may be prescribed for other uses. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Side Effects of Iopidine

Serious side effects have been reported with apraclonidine. See the "Drug Precautions" section.

Common side effects of apraclonidine include the following:

  • red eye
  • eye discharge
  • teary eyes
  • itchy eyes
  • eye discomfort
  • dry mouth
  • feeling of something in the eye
  • blurred vision
  • dry eyes
  • swelling of the eyelid

What should I avoid while using Iopidine (apraclonidine ophthalmic)?

This medicine may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.

Iopidine (apraclonidine ophthalmic) side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

  • severe itching, redness, or discomfort in or around your eye;

  • crusting or drainage around your eye;

  • eye pain or increased watering; or

  • feeling like something is in your eye.

Common side effects may include:

  • blurred vision;

  • dry eyes;

  • eye redness or watering, puffy eyelids;

  • dizziness, drowsiness; or

  • dry mouth.

How do I store and/or throw out Iopidine?

  • Store at room temperature. Do not freeze.
  • Protect from light.
  • Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets.
