Avoid taking this medicine within 2 hours before or after you take other medicines, especially an antibiotic. Ascorbic acid and carbonyl iron can make it harder for your body to absorb certain medicines you take by mouth.

Other drugs may interact with ascorbic acid and carbonyl iron, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use now and any medicine you start or stop using.

Use Icar-C as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.

• This medicine works better if you take it on an empty stomach. You may take this medicine with food if it causes an upset stomach. Some foods like eggs, whole grain breads, cereal, dairy products, coffee, and tea may make Icar-C not work as well. If this medicine causes an upset stomach, talk with your doctor about the best way to take Icar-C with food.
• This medicine prevents many other drugs from getting into the body. If you take other drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist to see if you need to take them at some other time than this medicine.

What do I do if I miss a dose?

• If you take Icar-C (iron and vitamin C) on a regular basis, take a missed dose as soon as you think about it.
• If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time.
• Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
