What do I need to tell my doctor BEFORE I take Bloxiverz?

  • If you have an allergy to neostigmine or any other part of Bloxiverz (neostigmine injection).
  • If you are allergic to any drugs like this one, any other drugs, foods, or other substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had, like rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.
  • If you have any of these health problems: Bowel block, peritonitis, or trouble passing urine.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist about all of your drugs (prescription or OTC, natural products, vitamins) and health problems. You must check to make sure that it is safe for you to take Bloxiverz with all of your drugs and health problems. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any drug without checking with your doctor.

How is this medicine (Bloxiverz) best taken?

Use Bloxiverz as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.

  • It is given as a shot into a muscle, vein, or into the fatty part of the skin.
  • It is given into a vein for a period of time.
  • Other drugs may be given before this medicine to help avoid side effects.

What do I do if I miss a dose?

What are some other side effects of Bloxiverz?

All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:

  • Stomach cramps.
  • Loose stools (diarrhea).
  • Drooling.
  • Headache.
  • Dizziness.
  • Upset stomach or throwing up.

Along with its needed effects, neostigmine (the active ingredient contained in Bloxiverz) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

  • dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  • double vision
  • fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  • halos around lights
  • hives
  • irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  • itching
  • lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  • loss of consciousness
  • muscle cramps and spasms
  • muscle pain or stiffness
  • night blindness
  • no blood pressure or pulse
  • noisy breathing
  • overbright appearance of lights
  • pain in joints
  • pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  • puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  • seizures
  • shortness of breath
  • skin rash
  • slow or irregular heartbeat
  • slurred speech
  • stopping of heart
  • sweating
  • tightness in chest
  • trouble in speaking
  • tunnel vision
  • unconsciousness
  • unusual tiredness or weakness
  • wheezing

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur while taking neostigmine:

  • Constipation
  • decreased sexual ability
  • difficult urination
  • dry mouth
  • enlarged pupils
  • muscle weakness

Some side effects of neostigmine may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
