What do I need to tell my doctor BEFORE I take Vilevev MB?

For all patients taking Vilevev MB (methenamine/sodium phosphate/phenyl salicylate/methylene blue/hyoscyamine):

  • If you have an allergy to methenamine, sodium biphosphate, phenyl salicylate, methylene blue, hyoscyamine, or any other part of this medicine.
  • If you are allergic to any drugs like this one, any other drugs, foods, or other substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had, like rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.
  • If you are taking or have recently taken any drugs for mental or mood problems like depression. There are many drugs that must not be taken with Vilevev MB. Talk with your doctor if you are not sure.

Children:

  • If your child is younger than 6 years of age. Do not give this medicine to a child younger than 6 years of age.

This medicine may interact with other drugs or health problems.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist about all of your drugs (prescription or OTC, natural products, vitamins) and health problems. You must check to make sure that it is safe for you to take Vilevev MB with all of your drugs and health problems. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any drug without checking with your doctor.

What are some things I need to know or do while I take Vilevev MB?

  • Tell all of your health care providers that you take this medicine. This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists.
  • Do not take more than what your doctor told you to take. Taking more than you are told may raise your chance of very bad side effects.
  • Do not take Vilevev MB for longer than you were told by your doctor.
  • This medicine may prevent other drugs taken by mouth from getting into the body. If you take other drugs by mouth, you may need to take them at some other time than this medicine. Talk with your doctor.
  • Use with care in children. Talk with the doctor.
  • If Vilevev MB is taken by accident, get medical help right away.
  • If you are 65 or older, use this medicine with care. You could have more side effects.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using Vilevev MB while you are pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. You will need to talk about any risks to your baby.

What are some other side effects of Vilevev MB?

All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:

  • Upset stomach or throwing up.
  • Feeling sleepy.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Flushing.
  • Change in color of urine or stool to blue or green.
