Uses of Tazorac
- It is used to treat pimples (acne).
- It is used to treat plaque psoriasis.
- It may be given to you for other reasons. Talk with the doctor.
What are some things I need to know or do while I take Tazorac?
- Tell all of your health care providers that you take Tazorac. This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists.
- Follow how to take this medicine as you have been told by your doctor. Do not use more than you were told to use.
- Some weather conditions may irritate the skin. Talk with the doctor.
- Skin may look worse before it looks better.
- Talk with your doctor before you use other drugs or products on your skin.
- Use of other skin products while using Tazorac may cause more irritation.
- You may get sunburned more easily. Avoid sun, sunlamps, and tanning beds. Use sunscreen and wear clothing and eyewear that protects you from the sun.
- This medicine may cause harm if swallowed. If this medicine is swallowed, call a doctor or poison control center right away.
- If you are able to get pregnant, a pregnancy test will be done to show that you are NOT pregnant before starting Tazorac. Talk with your doctor.
- This medicine may cause harm to the unborn baby if you take it while you are pregnant.
- Use birth control that you can trust to prevent pregnancy while taking this medicine.
- If you are pregnant or you get pregnant while taking Tazorac, call your doctor right away.
- Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. You will need to talk about any risks to your baby.
What are some side effects that I need to call my doctor about right away?
WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:
- Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

- Redness.
- Peeling.
- Sunburn.
- Swelling.
