Scrub Care Exidine

Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic that fights bacteria.

Chlorhexidine topical (for the skin) is used to clean the skin to prevent infection that may be caused by surgery, injection, or skin injury.

Chlorhexidine topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, rectum, or vagina. If this does happen, rinse with water.

Avoid using other medicines on the areas you treat with chlorhexidine topical unless your doctor tells you to.

Avoid getting this medicine on your clothing or other fabrics. Do not use bleach to wash any fabric exposed to chlorhexidine or the medicine may cause a permanent stain.

Applies to chlorhexidine topical: topical application cream, topical application dressing, topical application gel/jelly, topical application liquid, topical application lotion, topical application pad, topical application solution, topical application sponge

Other dosage forms:

• oral liquid, oral solution

Along with its needed effects, chlorhexidine topical (the active ingredient contained in Scrub Care Exidine) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking chlorhexidine topical:

• Blistering, burning, itching, peeling, skin rash, redness, swelling, or other signs of irritation on the skin
• swelling of the face, hands, or feet
• trouble breathing
