How should I use Lonhala Magnair Starter Kit?

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.

Lonhala Magnair Starter Kit is supplied as a solution (liquid) or as powder inside a capsule. Each form comes with a special inhaler device that is unique to that form of glycopyrrolate. Use only the inhaler device supplied with your specific brand of this medicine.

Always use the new inhaler device provided with your refill of this medicine.

Read and carefully follow any Instructions for Use provided with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.

Lonhala Magnair Starter Kit is usually given twice daily (morning and evening). Follow your doctor's dosing instructions. Use this medicine at the same time each day, even if you feel well.

Do not swallow the Lonhala Magnair Starter Kit capsule or liquid. This medicine is for use only with the supplied inhalation devices.

Glycopyrrolate is not a rescue medicine for bronchospasm attacks. Use only fast-acting inhalation medicine for an attack. Seek medical attention if your breathing problems get worse quickly, or if you think your medications are not working as well.

You should not stop using this medicine unless your doctor tells you to. Stopping suddenly may make your condition worse.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the medicine in the blister pack or foil pouch until it is time for your dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

Overdose symptoms may include blurred vision, eye pain, nausea, vomiting, trouble urinating, or severe dizziness.

For the Consumer

Along with its needed effects, glycopyrrolate (the active ingredient contained in Lonhala Magnair) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking glycopyrrolate:

  • Body aches or pain
  • chills
  • constipation
  • cough
  • decrease in the frequency of urination
  • decrease in urine volume
  • difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  • difficulty with breathing
  • ear congestion
  • feeling of warmth
  • fever
  • headache
  • loss of voice
  • nasal congestion
  • painful urination
  • redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  • runny nose
  • sneezing
  • sore throat
  • unusual tiredness or weakness
Less common
  • Abdominal or stomach discomfort or pain
  • abdominal or stomach distension
  • chest pain
  • confusion
  • convulsions
  • dizziness
  • dry heaves
  • dry mouth
  • fainting
  • increase in heart rate
  • lightheadedness
  • pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  • rapid breathing
  • shortness of breath or troubled breathing
  • stuffy nose
  • sunken eyes
  • thirst
  • tightness in the chest
  • vomiting
  • wheezing
  • wrinkled skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur while taking glycopyrrolate:

  • low blood pressure
  • muscle weakness
  • trouble breathing

Some side effects of glycopyrrolate may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  • anxiety
  • attack, assault, or force
  • bloated
  • change in taste
  • chapped lips
  • crying
  • dry skin
  • dry tongue
  • excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  • full feeling
  • hyperventilation
  • irregular heartbeats
  • irritability
  • loss of taste
  • moaning
  • nervousness
  • pain
  • paleness of the skin
  • passing gas
  • rash
  • restlessness
  • shaking
  • trouble with sleeping
  • uncontrolled eye movements

Nervous system

Nervous system side effects have included headache, nervousness, drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, and mental confusion. The elderly appear to be more prone to the anticholinergic effects of glycopyrrolate (the active ingredient contained in Lonhala Magnair) on the CNS. Seizures have been reported from postmarketing experience.[Ref]

Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular side effects have included tachycardia and palpitations. In addition, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, hypertension, and hypotension have been reported from postmarketing experience.[Ref]

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and feeling bloated.[Ref]

Genitourinary

Genitourinary side effects have included urinary hesitancy, urinary retention, and impotence.[Ref]

Ocular

Ocular side effects have included blurred vision, increased ocular tension, cycloplegia, and dilatation of the pupil.[Ref]

Endocrine

Endocrine side effects have included suppression of lactation.[Ref]

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have included dry mucous membranes and decreased sweating.[Ref]
