Drinking alcohol can increase certain side effects of triprolidine.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using any other cold, cough, allergy, or sleep medicine. Antihistamines are contained in many combination medicines. Taking certain products together can cause you to get too much of a certain drug. Check the label to see if a medicine contains an antihistamine.

Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather. Triprolidine can decrease sweating and you may be more prone to heat stroke.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you are also using any other drugs, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. What is Histex PD Drops (triprolidine)?

Triprolidine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

Triprolidine is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, hives, skin rash, itching, and other cold or allergy symptoms.

Triprolidine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Histex PD Drops (triprolidine)?

You should not use triprolidine if you are allergic to it.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to use this medicine if you have other medical conditions, especially:

  • a breathing disorder such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema;

  • blockage in your digestive tract (stomach or intestines);

  • kidney disease;

  • urination problems,

  • glaucoma; or

  • if you take potassium (Cytra, Epiklor, K-Lyte, K-Phos, Kaon, Klor-Con, Polycitra, Urocit-K).

It is not known whether triprolidine will harm an unborn baby. Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant.

It is not known whether triprolidine passes into breast milk or if it could affect a nursing baby. Antihistamines can slow breast milk production. Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are breast-feeding.

Artificially sweetened liquid medicine may contain phenylalanine. Check the medication label if you have phenylketonuria (PKU).

What happens if I miss a dose?

Since triprolidine is used when needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are on a schedule, use the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
