Fulyzaq is a brand name medication.

What is the most important information I should know about crofelemer?

Follow all directions on your medicine label and package. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies, and all medicines you use.

What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking crofelemer?

You should not use crofelemer if you are allergic to it.

To make sure crofelemer is safe for you, tell your doctor if you are sick with diarrhea and vomiting or other symptoms of infection.

FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether crofelemer will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication.

It is not known whether crofelemer passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.

Do not give this medication to anyone under 18 years old without medical advice.

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

Crofelemer side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using crofelemer and call your doctor at once if you have:

  • dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

  • wheezing, chest tightness, trouble breathing; or

  • worsening diarrhea.

Common side effects may include:

  • bloating, gas; or

  • cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, cough.

Oral Administration

Administer orally twice daily without regard to meals.1 (See Absorption under Pharmacokinetics.)

Swallow delayed-release tablets whole; do not crush or chew tablets.1

125 mg twice daily.1
