Topical steroid medicine can be absorbed through the skin, which may cause steroid side effects throughout the body. Do not use flurandrenolide topical in larger amounts, or for longer than recommended by your doctor. Do not apply to your face, underarms, or groin area unless your doctor tells you to.

Do not cover treated skin areas with a bandage or other covering unless your doctor has told you to. Plastic film covering (such as plastic wrap) is sometimes used when treating psoriasis. Follow your doctor's instructions.

If you are treating the diaper area of a baby, do not use plastic pants or tight-fitting diapers. Covering the skin that is treated with flurandrenolide topical can increase the amount of medicine your skin absorbs, which may lead to unwanted side effects.

Do not use this medication on a child without medical advice. Children are more likely to absorb large amounts of a topical steroid through the skin. Steroid absorption in children may cause unwanted side effects, or a delay in growth with long-term use.

Contact your doctor if your condition does not improve, or if you develop signs of a bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infection.

Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Topical steroid medicine can be absorbed through the skin, which may cause steroid side effects throughout the body.

Wash your hands before and after using flurandrenolide topical, unless you are using the medication to treat the skin on your hands.

Apply a small amount to the affected area and rub it gently into the skin. Do not use this medication over a large area of skin. Do not use flurandrenolide topical on broken or infected skin. Also avoid using this medication in open wounds.

Do not cover treated skin areas with a bandage or other covering unless your doctor has told you to. Plastic film covering (such as plastic wrap, plastic gloves, or a shower cap) is sometimes used to cover areas of psoriasis that are treated with flurandrenolide topical. Follow your doctor's instructions.

Avoid plastic covering over skin lesions that are oozing or draining pus or any type of fluid.

If you are treating the diaper area of a baby, do not use plastic pants or tight-fitting diapers. Covering the skin that is treated with flurandrenolide topical can increase the amount of medicine your skin absorbs, which may lead to unwanted side effects.

Contact your doctor if your condition does not improve, or if you develop signs of a bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infection. It is important to use flurandrenolide topical regularly to get the most benefit.

If you are treating psoriasis, use the medication for at least a few days after the skin clears. Stopping too soon could cause a relapse.

If you use this medication long-term, your blood may need to be tested. Visit your doctor regularly.

Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle or tube tightly closed when not in use.

Do not use flurandrenolide topical to treat any skin condition that has not been checked by your doctor.

Do not apply to your face, underarms, or groin area unless your doctor tells you to.

Avoid getting this medication in your eyes. If this does happen, rinse with water.

Avoid using other steroid medications on the areas you treat with flurandrenolide topical unless your doctor tells you to.

Flurandrenolide topical is used to help relieve redness, itching, swelling, or other discomfort caused by skin conditions. Flurandrenolide tape is used for dry and scaling skin lesions. This medicine is a corticosteroid (cortisone-like medicine or steroid).

This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription.

This section provides information on the proper use of a number of products that contain flurandrenolide. It may not be specific to Cordran Tape. Please read with care.

It is very important that you use this medicine only as directed by your doctor. Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, and do not use it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. To do so may cause unwanted side effects or skin irritation.

This medicine is for use on the skin only. Do not get it in your eyes. Do not use it on skin areas that have cuts, scrapes, or burns. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away with water.

This medicine should only be used for skin conditions that your doctor is treating. Check with your doctor before using it for other conditions, especially if you think that a skin infection may be present. This medicine should not be used to treat certain kinds of skin infections or conditions, such as severe burns.

Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using this medicine.

Do not use the lotion on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed to do so by your doctor.

Do not use the tape in an area where the skin folds together (e.g. between the fingers).

To use the cream, lotion, or ointment:

• Shake the lotion well before using.
• Apply a thin layer of this medicine to the affected area of the skin. Rub it in gently.
• With the lotion, protect the skin from water, clothing, or anything that causes rubbing until the medicine has dried.
• Do not bandage or otherwise wrap the skin being treated unless directed to do so by your doctor.
• If the medicine is applied to the diaper area of an infant, do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants unless directed to do so by your doctor.
• If your doctor ordered an occlusive dressing or airtight covering to be applied over the medicine, make sure you know how to apply it. Occlusive dressings increase the amount of medicine absorbed through your skin, so use them only as directed. If you have any questions about this, check with your doctor.

To use the tape:

• This medicine comes with patient directions. Read and follow the instructions carefully.
• Gently clean and wash the affected area with soap and water.
• Shave or clip the hair in the affected area to allow good application on the skin and comfortable removal of the tape.
• If you bathe or shower before applying this medicine, make sure that the area to be covered is completely dry.
• Measure and cut the tape to be used on the affected area. Do not tear or break the tape.
• Pull the white paper from the transparent tape. Be careful that the tape does not stick to itself.
• Apply and press the tape gently on the skin.
• Replace the tape every 12 hours, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Clean and wash the skin. Allow it to dry for 1 hour before applying a new tape.

Dosing

The dose of this medicine will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of this medicine. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.

The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine.

• For redness, itching, and swelling of the skin:
  • For topical dosage forms (cream, lotion, and ointment):
    • Adults—Apply to the affected area of the skin two or three times per day.
    • Children—Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.
  • For topical dosage form (tape):
    • Adults—Apply to the affected area of the skin every 12 hours.
    • Children—Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Storage

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing.

Keep out of the reach of children.

Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.

Ask your healthcare professional how you should dispose of any medicine you do not use.

It is very important that your doctor check the progress of you or your child at regular visits for any unwanted effects that may be caused by this medicine. Blood and urine tests may be needed to check for unwanted effects.

If your or your child's symptoms do not improve within a few days, or if they become worse, check with your doctor.

Using too much of this medicine or using it for a long time may increase your risk of having adrenal gland problems. The risk is greater for children and patients who use large amounts for a long time. Talk to your doctor right away if you or your child have more than one of these symptoms while you are using this medicine: blurred vision; dizziness or fainting; a fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat; increased thirst or urination; irritability; or unusual tiredness or weakness.

Stop using this medicine and check with your doctor right away if you or your child have a skin rash, burning, stinging, swelling, or irritation on the skin.

Do not use cosmetics or other skin care products on the treated areas.

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

• Blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, or flaking of the skin
• irritation
• itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin
• redness and scaling around the mouth
• thinning of the skin with easy bruising, especially when used on the face or where the skin folds together (e.g. between the fingers)

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

• Acne or pimples
• burning and itching of the skin with pinhead-sized red blisters
• burning, itching, and pain in hairy areas, or pus at the root of the hair
• increased hair growth on the forehead, back, arms, and legs
• lightening of normal skin color
• lightening of the treated areas of dark skin
• reddish purple lines on the arms, face, legs, trunk, or groin
• softening of the skin

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.

Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Use Cordran Tape as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.

• Use as you have been told, even if your signs get better.
• Do not take this medicine by mouth. Use on your skin only. Keep out of your mouth, nose, and eyes (may burn).
• Wash your hands before and after use. Do not wash your hands after use if putting this on your hand.
• Clean affected part before use. Make sure to dry well.
• Do not put on the face, underarms, or the groin area unless told to do so by the doctor.
• Do not use coverings (bandages, dressings, make-up) unless told to do so by the doctor.
• Do not put on skin that is oozing or where 2 skin areas may touch or rub together.
• Shave any hair in the area you will be putting the tape so that the tape sticks better and comes off easier.
• Do not tear the tape. Always cut the tape.
• Use a piece of tape that is a little bigger than the area to be covered.
• If the ends of the tape loosen, cut them off and replace with new tape.
• Shower or bathe before putting on new tape.

What do I do if I miss a dose?

• Use a missed dose as soon as you think about it.
• If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time.
• Do not use 2 doses or extra doses.

WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:

• Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
• Signs of high blood sugar like confusion, feeling sleepy, more thirst, more hungry, passing urine more often, flushing, fast breathing, or breath that smells like fruit.
• Signs of Cushing's disease like weight gain in the upper back or belly, moon face, very bad headache, or slow healing.
• Signs of a weak adrenal gland like a very bad upset stomach or throwing up, very bad dizziness or passing out, muscle weakness, feeling very tired, mood changes, not hungry, or weight loss.
• Skin changes (pimples, stretch marks, slow healing, hair growth).
• Skin irritation.

All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:

• Dry skin.
• Itching.
• Burning.
