What do I need to tell my doctor BEFORE I take Cepacol Dual Relief?

  • If you have an allergy to benzocaine or any other part of Cepacol Dual Relief (benzocaine and glycerin oral spray).
  • If you are allergic to any drugs like this one, any other drugs, foods, or other substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had, like rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

What are some things I need to know or do while I take Cepacol Dual Relief?

  • Tell all of your health care providers that you take this medicine. This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists.
  • Do not eat while your mouth feels numb. You may bite your tongue.
  • If you smoke, talk with your doctor.
  • Do not give Cepacol Dual Relief to a child younger than 6 years of age.
  • Talk with the doctor before you use this medicine for a child younger than 12 years old.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using Cepacol Dual Relief while you are pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. You will need to talk about any risks to your baby.

Applies to benzocaine topical: cream, film, gel/jelly, gum, liquid, lotion, lozenge/troche, ointment, paste, powder for suspension, solution, spray, swab, tablet disintegrating

Along with its needed effects, benzocaine topical (the active ingredient contained in Cepacol Dual Relief Sore Throat) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking benzocaine topical:
